Upstream Public Health

Upstream Public Health is a political organization that advocates for broad social changes that improve public health outcomes. Among its areas of focus are transportation policy.

As of August 2011, Heidi Guenin is Upstream's transportation policy coordinator.

[edit] On bikesharing

In August 2011, Upstream Public Health partnered with the Willamette Pedestrian Coalition to opppose the City of Portland's proposal to use Regional Flexible Funds to kickstart a bikesharing plan. The two organizations withdrew their opposition after the city pledged to hold a "community engagement process" to find ways its bikesharing plan could be tweaked to benefit "underserved communities," as required by Metro.
