The Travel Issue
From Portland Afoot
The Travel Issue was the name of the July 2011 and the July/August 2012 editions of Portland Afoot's 10-minute newsmagazine.
The 2011 issue's cover story, which could only be read after the physical issue was folded into a paper airplane, was a guide to car-free air travel, including a review of the bike and transit connections to various airports around the country. The Portland-based Independent Publishing Resource Center named it their Zine of the Month.
The 2012 issue's cover story was a one-page introduction to bicycle touring, with advice from experts Matt Picio of Cycle Wild, a Portland-based bike-touring education and advocacy group, and Ellee Thalheimer, author of Cycling Sojourner, a guide to seven of the best bike trips around Oregon.
