[edit] Partnership with Portland Afoot

Starting in September 2010, the Swan Island TMA partnered with Portland in the Round, the nonprofit that publishes Portland Afoot, to distribute free copies and free subscription offers to workers on the island who expressed interest in low-car commuting. No money changed hands, though Anderson and Portland Afoot's Michael Andersen (no relation) have bought each other's lunch a few times while they worked things out.

In March 2011, the TMA hired Portland Afoot to research commuting trends on the island, as part of its Trip Not Taken project. Portland in the Round billed the TMA $148.25 for just over 6.5 hours on the project.
