St. Johns

St. Johns is an old streetcar suburb of Portland that has since been annexed by the city and become in many ways the heart of North Portland.
It's quite walkable and would be one of the best places to live in Portland without a car if only it were a little less isolated from the central city. Though it's physically close to downtown and Northwest Portland, transit and bicycle connections are much weaker than auto connections.
