ticket machine at the base of the Portland Aerial Tram

The Portland Aerial Tram's automated ticket machine dispenses tram passes to people riding the tram on non-OHSU business. It accepts Visa, Mastercard, and coins (including dollar coins) but no bills.

[edit] No bills accepted

According to OHSU the machine, which like the tram is owned by the City of Portland, doesn't accept bills because they are more likely to jam the machine, in which case the city would be liable to OHSU for lost revenue and repairs. For the same reason, change machines are not offered, either.

From 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on weekdays, people wishing to buy tickets with cash can purchase Tram passes from the pharmacy on the first floor of the nearby OHSU Center for Health and Healing. On weekends, people can change bills for coins at the Daily Cafe on the first floor of the center or from March Wellness, the gym on the second floor.
