Pioneer Courthouse Square

From PortlandAfoot

Jump to: navigation, search

Pioneer Courthouse Square is a privately managed plaza in downtown Portland, just west of the Portland Transit Mall between SW Yamhill, Morrison, Broadway and Sixth.

At one point in the 1970s, the block was scheduled to become a parking garage, but city leaders intervened.

[edit] Transit connections

As the site of the Pioneer Courthouse/SW 6th Ave MAX Station, Pioneer Square North MAX Station and Pioneer Square South MAX Station, the square is one of the two locations in town where all four MAX lines intersect. (The other location is the Rose Quarter Transit Center.)

[edit] Ticket office

The main TriMet ticket office and downtown visitor center is located in the square, behind the waterfalls and beneath the Starbucks.
