Metro chief operating officer

The Metro chief operating officer is the top unelected official for the regional planning agency. He or she supervises Metro's day-to-day operations.
As of November 2011, the position is held by acting COO Martha Bennett, who succeeded former Clackamas County commissioner Michael Jordan in 2011. Jordan had taken the job in 2003, when the position was created.
