Interstate MAX extension
From PortlandAfoot
The Interstate MAX extension, the second expansion of TriMet's light rail system, became the Yellow Line. It was split off from the longer South-North MAX extension from Clackamas County to Vancouver.
The remaining, southern half of the South-North MAX Extension became the Green Line and the proposed Portland-Milwaukie light rail project.
The Interstate project was overseen by Neil McFarlane, then TriMet's executive director for capital projects.
[edit] Funding
According to the TriMet publication "Livable Portland," the project's income included:
- $257.5 million from the Federal Transit Administration
- $37.5 million in regional transportation funds, awarded by Metro
- $30 million from the City of Portland, by way of a new urban renewal district
- $25 million from TriMet itself
