Interstate Avenue
From Portland Afoot
Interstate Avenue is a major north-south street in North Portland bisected, for almost all its length, by the Yellow Line. (During construction, the Yellow Line was known as the (Interstate MAX extension.) A dedicated bike lane, added when the MAX line was built, also runs along each side of the street.
In April 2011, City of Portland Bicycle Coordinator Roger Geller said that if the Yellow Line were being built then, it probably would have included a major bike parking facility at the Rosa Parks MAX station and a cycletrack along Interstate.
Until the introduction of the Yellow Line, Interstate was served by TriMet's now-defunct 5 bus.
