How to get a subsidized TriMet pass

From PortlandAfoot

Jump to: navigation, search

Portlanders can get a subsidized TriMet pass by telling their boss or their company's human resources office about the local subsidies for alternative commuting and explaining that:

  • The simplest programs, in which employees can sign up for a tax-free TriMet pass, are free and easy to administer.
  • More complicated programs, in which employers chip in for the cost of TriMet passes, vanpools and bike repairs, are cheap benefits to offer employees because they are heavily subsidized by the state, federal and regional governments.

Alternatively, they can look for a job at one of the more than 300 Portland employers that subsidize TriMet passes, which include companies from Fred Meyer to the U.S. Postal Service.
