Gasoline tax, as of Jan. 1, 2011, is 31 cents per gallon in Oregon and 37.5 cents per gallon in Washington.

Oregon was the first state in the union to approve a gasoline tax for road construction, in February 1919. The rate was 1 cent per gallon.

The Oregon Constitution forbids the use of auto-related taxes or fees on public transportation or other non-road services.
