Carkit

Jump to: navigation, search

A Carkit is a brand name for the simple electronic box that a Getaround user can install in his or her shared vehicle to allow keyless entry (using a smartphone app) and to trace the number of miles driven during a Getaround trip.

The same technology is used by other personal carsharing companies.

Carsharing expert Dave Brook estimated in fall 2011 that once they were in mass production, each Carkit-like device would cost about $400 to $500.
