Active transportation

From Portland Afoot

Jump to: navigation, search

Active transportation is a phrase sometimes used to refer to walking, bicycling, skating, using mass transit or any other way of getting around that requires more physical activity than driving a car.

Some activists prefer the phrase to those like "low-car" or "alternative transportation" because it defines walking, biking, skating and riding in terms of something they are (active) rather than something they are not (automotive).
