[edit] Among TriMet's most crowded routes
At the time of Portland Afoot's 2011 TriMet bus rankings, the 4 was TriMet's 4th most crowded line during winter 2010-2011, with 94 percent of its seating capacity, on average, occupied during the morning peak.
It was also the 5th least reliable frequent service bus line, and the one with the 3rd best midday service.
[edit] Targeted by bus organizers
The 4 was one of five bus routes targeted by OPAL, an environmental justice group that began organizing bus riders in 2009 and 2010.
[edit] Candidate for restored service
In April 2011, TriMet managers named the 4 as a bus line that might get restored service in the fall, in the event of TriMet's negotiation victory against Amalgamated Transit Union Local 757.
